The idea and vision of Innovative Strategy for Human Development LTD/GTE (ISHD) was first conceived by the founder, Olutoyin Falade as Peace and Development Initiatives (PADI) in the small community of Owutu, Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria in the year 2005. However, the organization transformed into ISHD and was dully registered in December, 2007. ISHD’s Founder was motivated by experiences gained in the course of her activities as a young Social Worker in her adolescence as well as her volunteering activities with the Center for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) in year 2000. She was also motivated by her few supportive friends whose advice actually prompted the establishment of ISHD.
Since inception, ISHD, through its founder has empowered several widows and indigent women with small funds till they could find their feet. These women empowerment programmes are anchored on the founder’s experiences that when you give a mother/woman some gifts, the family gets to share and enjoy it. ISHD has given many young people (male and female) directions in life through several counseling programmes. The organization is also working with other vulnerable groups including people with disabilities to enhance their inclusion into mainstream society. ISHD has particularly pursued several community development and peace building programmes aimed at fostering unity among the people and sustainable development of the society as a whole.
